29 November 2014

29 November 2014
Saturday

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Since Miley was born, we have taken family
pictures on Thanksgiving day. I like getting pictures
in front of the tree. But we forgot to do that this year.
We went to the park. And had a great time.
Chalon still has all the pictures on his computer and
he is helping a friend with pictures of a wedding today.
Hopefully, he will be home later. So I can get them.
I have not seen any of them yet. But I am sure there
will be some good ones.

And now, later the same day......hahaha

I got the pictures. :-)

Yep, that's us at our best. LOL

So many good ones. I was so happy to
see how great they turned out. I have just
placed an order for prints to put in the
Christmas cards that I have started
addressing.

They came to paint the doors in the bathroom.
It was our own last minute thing to ask for.
But he wasn't happy with how they turned out.
So he will be back on monday. To finish.
Then, yes then, the bathroom will be all done!

And Wednesday, we leave for Disneyland!!!

25 November 2014
Tuesday

I can hardly believe how fast time is flying this year.
Thanksgiving is just a couple days off. And then
Disneyland is the following wednesday. Then
Christmas is just 3 weeks after. I have very little
Christmas shopping done. Thankfully, there isnt a
whole lot of shopping for me to do these days.

I am enjoying the day with Miley. She is out of
school this week. So today and tomorrow, I get to
spend the day with her. She is napping right now.
I don't care what the experts say, kindergarten still
needs a nap time. We have added more to the
Christmas tree today. I had hoped the two of us
could make the cherry salad for Thanksgiving today.
But I think it will have to wait til tomorrow.

Since Miley was born, we have taken family
pictures on Thanksgiving day. I look forward to it.
Its one day we all are together. And its a perfect time
to get them ready to put in cards. As Miley has gotten
older, she pretty much takes charge of it all. We have
a few pictures we have to get. Then she gets to direct.
Which she loves. I cant wait to see what she comes up with.

The bathroom is done. Well, except for painting the doors
and frames. I don't know why we didn't think of that. How
could we miss that?? Especially once the walls were done. It
was so obvious that they needed to be done as well.
Oh brother. But they said they will find time to do it in the
next week or so. I took the first shower, last night.
And Miley took the first bath. She loved that. It has
turned out fabulous. We are both very happy with it.

23 November 2014

23 November 2014
Sunday

What a terrific afternoon!
Chalon and I spent the afternoon with our
wonderful friends, the Murillo family.
They are Robert & Billie. Their son, is
Daniel. The same age our son Chalon.
And their lovely daughter, Larisa.
In years past, I have asked Daniel and Larisa to
let me take their pictures. So I could make
something of a surprise for Billie for
Christmas or her birthday. But this
year, I wanted to do the whole family.
I know Billie hates having her picture taken.
I know a lot of people hate having their picture
taken. But I truly feel photos are so important.
If nothing else, just to note your time here.
Our very capable picture taking son helped.
And we spent the afternoon with them.
I hope they are as happy with the finished
collection as I am.

They are a wonderful family. The best of friends.
Kind, generous, friendly people. When our son went
off to army basic training, Billie knew. She knew I was
struggling. We were struggling. It was right before
the 4th of July. So what did Billie do, she came by
one afternoon and just said, "Come on. I have to
go to Kohls. Come with me."
They came by to pick us up to take us to their church.
They were having a special service in honor of the
military. And they wanted us to see it.
They have never failed to be there whenever we needed
a friend. To bbq with. Watch a movie. Or just to talk.
They never judge.
And we are blessed to have them in our lives.

22 November 2014

22 November 2014
Saturday

Bathroom is so close!!

They will be back on Monday to:
1) Seal grout.
2) Fixtures in the shower
3) Paint doors and door frames
4) And a couple other little things.
Here is how it looks today. Incredible!
We are so happy with it!!

We had not thought about replacing the outlet
and switch covers. But I found those. They look
more silver in real. As we replace such things in the
house, I have been going to brushed nickel. These
are pretty close. Everything looks terrific.

Terry found two more boxes of Christmas tree
ornaments. So I will be back at the tree tomorrow.
Hopefully, the angel is in one of them.

We are coming up to Thanksgiving week. It has begun
to be a tradition her to take family pictures on
Thanksgiving day for Christmas cards.
So we will do that. We are eating early. And I will
be over at the USO 4-8. Terry will probably be
sleeping. haha And everyone else with be doing
the same or scattered.

The next week will then be Disneyland. I think we are
all set for that. Hotel. Disney tickets.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservations.
Character breakfast reservations. My PhotoPassPlus
package came today. Its not very clearly explained.
I thought I understood it before this came. I will
read it over tomorrow.

This blog is turning into a diary. haha I will have to
start thinking of more to write about than the
bathroom and the tree. Geesh!!

19 November 2014- Wednesday

The tree is very close.
So is the bathroom.

First the tree. Miley was here for a couple hours
this afternoon. She put up her box of ornaments.

Then we took a break to eat and watch Mickey Mouse and
one of his Christmas specials.

So the tree is mostly done now. I still have not come
across the angel for the top. But tomorrow, I will be pushing it
back into the corner.

There must be at least one more box.

Today was my ''volunteer at Mileys school'' day.
Yay!! I love my time up there. Getting to know the
kids and Ms Figg the teacher. So I was not here
when the bathroom was getting worked on.
They grouted the floor. And touched up the painting.
The painting looks pretty good. Of course, its hard to see
with no lights. But I love the color. I was so worried. But
it is wonderful.. I took some of the shower tiles in and
put them up against it. Looks fabulous!!

But I hope they aren't done with the grouting. There is a
lot of space in the grout gaps. I am sure there must be
more to do. But the color is awesome.

Miley has a Thanksgiving play tomorrow evening.
Thursday is normally  my USO night. Which I love.
But I will be going in late so I can go to the play.
I would hate to miss it!!

Exercise!!!
Monday, 17 November 2014

The tree.
The ladder required to decorate the tree.
Exercise! haha Geesh, this morning,
my legs were a little stiff. And that's why.
Up and down that ladder. Up and down.
But I have gotten so much done on it.
Its looking lovely.

Gosh, looking at this picture, I am not
even sure you can tell much difference.
But the top 1/3rd pretty covered. Except
the angel on top. Have not come across her yet.
I have to finish the middle. Then, Miley will be in
charge of the bottom with her box full of ornaments.
To arrange and cover the whole bottom row.

The bathroom guys were here today.
It was spray texture on the walls day.
Turned out really good. So happy I asked for that.
The horrible texture that was on there before is
gone. Yay!! We hated it on day one.

We decided on a pale gray for the walls. Its
very light. And I think it will look wonderful with
the blue tile. White ceiling, tub & toilet.
In the powder room the sink, vanity & linen cabinet
are all white as well. I hope I dont regret not going with
a white or dark blue. Both having been considered.
Hoping it looks like it looks in my head.

The Tree has been started!

Still so many more ornaments to be put
up. But at least its started. Yay!

Bathroom guys wont be here today of course.
But they will be back in the morning. Here is how
it is now.

Trim done on the floor. Newly mudded walls.
And me, so so so ready for it to be done. haha

40 days til Christmas

Day two, yesterday, in the bathroom.

Top photo, you can see the floor. I am in love with it.
Middle you can see the tub off to the side.
Bottom, you can see the hole where the huge mirror
medicine cabinet will fit in.

The tree is the same.
Friday, 14 November 2014

It has been a busy few days.
Chalon and I took Miley to the zoo
on Tuesday.
Wednesday is volunteer time at
Mileys school. Which is fabulous.
I love that time.
Thursday, Leslie and I went to meet
Mary Sparkes. From Honor Flight.
Mary G from the USO came to have lunch
with us all too. It was wonderful.
Then off to the USO for the evening.
Now, bathroom guys are here. Yay! Working on
the bathtub! Yay!

My tree still stands there waiting.

Fun Veterans Day!

Fun Veterans Day!
11 November 2014
My veteran son, Miley and I went to the
Wildlife World Zoo today. Being as the kids were out of
school, we thought the place would be crowded. It was
full but really not bad and a nice morning.

This place is pretty big. But we managed to
see quite a bit of it. Before lunch.

Last stop. After lunch, we promised her we would
do the playground and petting zoo. They have sections
with goats & lamas. Other sections with a snake, prairie dogs,
tortoises, ducks, turtles.

It was a terrific day. With two of my
favorite people.
And maybe I can do some decorating of the
Christmas tree tonight. Still looks
pretty much like this.

Getting started.....

10 November 2014
What is this blog about??

I am planning to write about whatever
strikes me. Any time, any day. It will probably be an unpredictable,
ridiculous hodge podge of thoughts and
nonsense. There will be pictures. Books.
Movies. Stories. Ranting.
And day to day thoughts.
Starting with my Christmas tree.
Its been put up today. And I have
spent the evening fluffing it. I have gotten
smart enough to recognize putting the
tree up early enough to have plenty of
time to decorate. Instead of doing a poor
job of it.
And here is how it looked right off.
