Hawaii 2015 Day two

Hawaii 2015
Day Two
2 February 2015

Our first glimpse of the view from our balcony.
On our 35th wedding anniversary!!

Yes, stunning. Our first morning, Terry was looking out
and off to the right, a group of whales greeted us.
Breaching, jumping, splashing, blowing. It was incredible.
We were both so excited we did not want to leave.
But it was time to get breakfast and then off to our
whale watching trip!!

A wonderful buffet. Plenty of bacon & sausage for me.
Terry had his biscuits & gravy. Wonderful fruit and juices.
Great way to start the day.

GPS tells us the shop we need to meet up at is 20 miles or so.
We have allowed ourselves more than 45 minutes. This is when
we find out there is only one road, one lane each way. AND no
one goes the speed limit. It is 5-10 miles under the speed limit.
But the starter was the the road we came in on last night is a
maintenance road. Not for guests during the day. Lovely.
In the end, we are late. Thankfully, somewhat late is apparently
considered on time here. Works out perfect.
Time to spot some whales!!!

Captain Janine is wonderful. She has Jess helping her.
From Big Island Divers.
They are both friendly and energetic.

We zoomed everywhere. Spotting a puff of the vaporized water
shooting in the air and we were off to get closer.
We saw so many!! Every direction. It was like the two of them
had some radar. They took care of us. Shared their knowledge.
And made the trip incredible.

Before we left, we had decided we wanted to get ourselves
something very special from this trip in celebration of our
anniversary. Terry had not been able to wear his wedding
band for years. So we agreed that was what we wanted to
bring back. Terry had done research and found a couple places
online that looked interesting. So after the whale watching, we
were off in search of them. Downtown Kona is interesting. As
drove thru we found one of the places Terry had researched.
Turned out they had exactly what we wanted. Exactly.
Even so, we decided to get some lunch and think about it.
Found a wonderful place with an amazing view!
The Kona Inn. Simple food. Very unimpressive service.
But again, the view!!

After lunch, we were ready to order those rings.

UPDATE

The rings finally arrived to us back in Phoenix on
Wednesday, Feb 18. We are so happy with them.
They fit perfectly.
And they are gorgeous! Exactly what we wanted.
We are now matching and wedding ringed up.

Hawaii 2015 Day one

Hawaii 2015
Day One
1 February 2015

We were to fly out very early on
Super Bowl Sunday. Woo hoo!! Gettin'
out of town while gettins good. haha
When we walked out of the house that morning,
it was all foggy. We thought maybe there was a
fire somewhere. But no, it was just a very dense
heavy fog. Very unusual for Phoenix. Where on
earth did we get enough humidity to make such
a fog!? It continued all the way to the airport.

We were worried it would delay our flight. And, of
course, it did. So we were late getting to LA.
Missing our connection. We got on the next flight
only a couple hours later. Not too bad. Though the
seats weren't what we had picked. Blah. Oh well.
Who cares!! We are off to Hawaii!!
We arrive Honolulu with a couple hours to wait
for our island hopper flight to the big island, Hawaii.

We get to our hotel at about 930 pm.
I will be doing a separate blog posting about the
hotel. Just the hotel.
Stepped out onto the balcony. To complete darkness.
But we could hear it. We could hear the magnificent
ocean. Crashing on the shore. It was awesome!!

And then, to dream land. We were both wiped out.
The day starts early tomorrow.
